But they couldn't stop the Red Rose falling to a 38-12 defeat at the Mend A Hose Jungle

Open age players Ryan Hilliard and Greg Smith were representing their counties on Saturday as the annual War of the Roses between the NCL clubs was played.
Both Hilliard and Smith started at fullback and stand off respectively for Lancashire, but they couldn't stop Yorkshire romping to victory at the Mend a Hose Jungle, home of the Castleford Tigers.
The damage was done as Yorkshire went into a 20-0 half time lead thanks to tries from John Gray and Reece Dean of Skirlaugh and Gareth Gale of Featherstone Lions.
Dean then added a second try before Lancashire threatened a comeback thanks to tries from Tyler Spence of Wigan St Patricks and Kieron Glenn of Egremont Rangers, both of which were converted by Smith.
The game was then made safe for Yorkshire as Gareth Blackburn of Siddal and Luke Tagg of Lock Lane added tries and Gale added a second.
Whilst its disappointment for both right now, they will hope to get back to winning ways with Pilks this weekend when both of our open age teams are back in action.
