Winless in May, back on track in June

Coming into May, Pilks would have been forgiven for thinking they had turned the corner after a slow start, but the reality by the end of the month was far different.
The first game saw them given a chance to lay down a real marker when they faced the early season leaders Thornhill Trojans, but lost narrowly 32-26 at Ruskin Drive.
It sparked a run that would see them go the entire month without a win, they lost away at another one of their promotion rivals in Lock Lane a week later.
The next week saw them play their game in hand against Ince Rose Bridge at Ruskin Drive, a game that would have been seen to stop the rot, but they fell to a surprise 18-16 defeat against the relegation threatened side.
The season was not panning out as expected and Pilks needed results fast if they were going to catch the rest of the pack at the top of the table.
The fixtures looked friendly for Pilks, with two home games against relegation threatened sides Shaw Cross Sharks and Bradford Dudley Hill. They responded with back to back 50-10 wins to reignite the season.
They then had a quick chance to enact revenge on Thornhill Trojans, but fell to a humiliating 54-0 defeat away from home, their heaviest defeat of the season.
However, they would end the month with three wins from a possible four games after winning their game in hand in East Yorkshire against Skirlaugh.
