On possibly the muddiest pitch the Pilks team have ever played on the U9s today put in a performance second to non against an excellent Hindley side!
Captains for the day were in the forwards Kyle Prescot and in the backs Joshua Thiselton for the second week running.
As we knew Hindley would give us a challenging game in a change of tactics this weeks Pilks experimented with using a full back for the first time, shared between Daniel Tabern and Joshua Burton, both who took to the position naturally and put in a great performance.
The first play of the match saw Pilks defend solidly and before long Daniel Tabern had broken the Hindley defense to open the scoring.
Hindley however threw their big lads forward and scored two quick tries, but Pilks never let their heads drop and a skillful move from Max Tracey saw him score Pilks second try. Big defensive tackles from Kyle Prescot , Jacob Wilding and Aaron Cranny helped Pilks keep out Hindley. Charlie Swift was unlucky to have a try disallowed, however made up for it scoring on the next Pilks set, and the team went in at half time 3-2 up.
Second half saw some fantastic tackling from Reece Boadey, Ethan Moore, Jack Bailey and Charlie Swift, together with some super runs from Joshua Thiselton, Rebecca Benthom, Sam Caddick, Luc Holloway and Cameron Cranny.
Pilks opened the scoring in the second half with a superb effort from Joshua Burton, however Hindley quickly hit back with a try in the corner. Daniel Tabern wasn't about to let Hindley come back and scored again in his usual inevitable style!
Hindley made it tough for Pilks by putting up a tough fight, and again scored however Charlie Swift scored his second try of the match and Pilks finished the game as 6-4 winners!
As a team this week Pilks worked solidly and with a great team ethic, they had listened at training and put to good use the advice given.
Well done to each and every player out there, keep up the good work!
