Pilks today made the journey across to Higginshaw, on a damp morning, much different from the last few weekends we’ve played.

Captains for today match were Joshua Burton for the backs, and Jacob Wilding for the forwards.

Pilks took to the field with the starting lineup of Aaron, Sam, Jack, Max, Ethan, Josh T, Josh B, Kian and Jacob. Big well done to all the Pilks players who stepped forward and played part of the match for Higginshaw, who were a player short for the game.

The game today was all about defense, with both teams putting in big tackles determined to stop the opposition crossing the line.

Pilks started strongly with some great runs by Sam Caddick, Max Tracey and Joshua Thiselton getting close to the line, but the Higginshaw defense held strong.

With not much between the sides it was Ethan Moore who opened the scoring for Pilks with a great try, his tackling today was superb as always. Higginshaw ran hard, especially when our own Kyle Prescott had the ball, some good tackling from Aaron Cranny, Jack Bailey and Joshua Burton kept him back.

Max Tracey then scored a fantastic solo try to put Pilks 2-0 up, with Daniel Tabern in his inevitable style scoring the third Pilks Try and with Charlie Swift judged to have knocked on over the line Pilks led at half time 3-0.

Second half saw some good runs by Daniel Sutton, Kian Hurst, Reece Boadey and Luc Holloway and the pressure was on from the Pilks side. Good defending on the wings by Rebecca Benthom , Joshua Thiselton and Joshua Burton kept Higginshaw out, and Jacob Wilding then powered over for Pilks fourth try.

Higginshaw however weren’t about to give up, and a lapse in the Pilks defense saw them over the line for their first try of the game.
Charlie Swift hadn’t forgotten about the first half knock on and was determined to make amends scoring a great try for Pilks.

A final consolation try for Higginshaw on the whistle saw the game finish 5-2 to Pilks. Good effort from all the team in a hard and sometimes scrappy match, well done!
