Another Win for the Fabulous Under 9s

Captains for todays match were Max Tracey and Ryan White.

In a change from the advertised fixture Pilks found themselves playing away at Langworthy, a team in the red league this year.

With Langworthy only having 6 players, and Pilks with another great turn out of 16, a big congratulations first to Josh B,Kian, Jacob, Sam, Luc,Rebecca,Aaron, Dan S and Charlie who all spent time on the Langworthy side to level the teams.

Whilst playing again your own team mates is tough all the Pilks team put in massive effort today to come away with another convincing win.

A big opening first set saw Charlie Swift and Sam Caddick run hard to the midway line, a great pass from Max Tracey to Joshua Thiselton brought Pilks just short of the line but Ryan White was unlucky to be held out by some good Langworthy defending.

Some big hits in defence from Jack Bailey, Max Tracey, Aaron Cranny and Charlie Swift saw Pilks hold out Langworthy, including their team mates Jacob, Luc and Dan S.

Another good set followed with Joshua Thiselton getting halfway before being tackled, A good move from Charlie Swift put Rebecca Benthom out wide. Joshua Burton them was tackled just short of the corner , but got the ball out to Jack Bailey who made a great run to the opposite corner, a pass to Rebecca, who was held short and Charlie Swift was again unlucky to power over.

Defending well again Pilks held out and Ryan White with a fabulous try opened the scoring for Pilks on the next set.

Changes saw Joshua B, Sam and Aaron over to Langworth. Kyle Prescot and Daniel Tabern made their presence known with some fantastic try saving tackles, and big runs, and Max Tracey made a superb run to score his first, and Pilks second try of the match.

Langworthy made some good meters and before long were over the line despite Pilks best efforts. Ethan Moore was not going to let them into the game for long, as with a great move he scored Pilks 3rd try, some great team play from Charlie Swift, Daniel Sutton and Daniel Tabern gave Pilks good field position, and Kyle Prescot was over again for Pilks.

Langworthy made another great run and scored in the corner, but Max Tracey playing some great rugby, put Pilks 5-2 ahead at half time.

The second half saw Kian, Rebecca and Charlie play for Langworthy, with Charlie making some big tackles and holding out the Pilks team on more than one occasion.

Daniel Tabern made a fantastic run to open the second half scoring, then Langworthy were awarded a try despite some fabulous defending by Daniel Tabern again.

Aaron Cranny and Daniel Sutton put in some fabulous runs, with Kian Hurst directing play well in the middle of the field. Jack Bailey threw himself into some big tackles, Jacob Wilding and Sam Caddick ran and tackled hard, and Kyle Prescot again powered over for his second try of the match.

Luc Holloway made some great meters for the team , and Ryan White stopped some tough Langworthy opponents. Joshua Burton made a fabulous solo run to score Pilks 8th try of the match and the game finished with Pilks coming out well deserved winners, with a big thanks to Langworthy who put up a tough performance ..it was a game played in the best of spirits, and Well done to Charlie Swift for his performance in the 'drinking' game after the match!
