Pilks met their match against a tough Ashton side this morning, attack was the name of the game!

Pilks made the short trip to Ashton Bears this morning for their first away game in the second half of the season.

Pilks had a strong turnout, captains today were Jack Bailey and Rebecca Benthom.

From the start the powerful Ashton side gained control and were first over the line for a try, catching Pilks off guard so early in the match.
Pilks made some good meters the next set with Ethan Moore and Max Tracey moving the line in, but Ashton defended well.
It wasn’t long however before Reece Boadey, who was on top form today, crossed the line and opened the scoring for Pilks.
Big defense by Charlie Swift and Sam Caddick throughout today’s game , and Joshua Thiselton and Rebecca Benthom on the wings put in a great effort to push the Ashton side back to the middle to be met by Kyle Prescott and Jacob Wilding.
It wasn’t long before Luc Holloway put in a fantastic run and Ethan Moore found a space and put the ball down for Pilks second of the match,
But Ashton weren’t about to lie down and quickly equalized.
Jack Bailey and Kian Hurst played the ball fast in field and before we knew it Daniel Tabern had found a gap and Pilks were 3-2 up.

Yet again Ashton refused to be held, and despite some great tackling by Ethan Moore and Aaron Cranny they were in again and the scores level at 3-3.
Max Tracey then came up with an amazing pass to Rebecca Benthom, who crossed the line in the corner and put Pilks ahead.
Again Ashton came up with the reply try.
Almost to half time Joshua Thiselton made a great run to give Pilks some yards, Daniel Sutton also put in a great run to boost the side. Reece Boadey found Daniel Tabern and Pilks went in at half time 5-4 up, and Game on!

Half time team talk done and from the Start massive runs by Cameron Cranny and Sam Caddick saw Kyle Prescott over the line for Pilks giving them a 2 try advantage. A marvelous play and great vision by Joshua Burton saw him cross the line for Pilks second of the half and the visitors appeared to be taking control of the game.
Ashton, as proved in the first half refused to lie down and despite some great tackling pulled a try back.
Joshua Burton , still fired up from his previous try, found room to the line again.. Again to be met by an Ashton try on the return set.

With them end of the game in sight it was down to Ethan Moore to break the line and scores Pilks, and the last, try of the match.

A big well done to all who played, massive effort by all.

MAN OF THE MATCH: REECE BOADEY
MOST IMPROVED: JACOB WILDING
