Pilks faced a tough game against a much improved Langworthy team today

Pilks took to the field today against a Langworthy team much improved since the last time the two sides met.

Captains for todays match were Tom Kilgannon for the backs and Cameron Cranny for the forwards.

Although it was a bright autumn morning the ground was quite damp and the ball proved hard to hold onto in the early stages of the match!

Pilks started the play with some big runs from Cameron Cranny and Luc Holloway but it took a few sets for both teams to get into the game, and Pilks opened the score with Reece Boadey scoring a fantastic try.

Pilks then put in some big tackles, with Tom Kilgannon , Daniel Tabern and Charlie Swift making their prescence known to the Langworthy team.

Langworthy however weren’t about to make it easy for Pilks and went over for the next try.

Some great ball play followed and Jack Bailey and Rebecca Benthom got the ball down the pitch and Tom Kilgannon went over the line to score his first try in the red, amber and black.

Langworthy again powered over the line.

Pilks then had a great finish to the first half. Max Tracey directed play over the park and some great runs from Kian Hurst, Aaron Cranny and Charlie Swift saw Charlie cross the line for his first of the match.

Joshua Burton used his talent for spotting gaps and scored from some great passing by Rebecca Benthom and Reece Boadey. Ethan Moore spotted another gap in the Langworthy defense and went over for Pilks final try of the half . Pilks led 5-2 at half time.

Langworthy started strong in the second half .However some fantastic runs by Daniel Tabern , Tom Kilgannon and Joshua Thiselton got Pilks close to the line on more than one occasion, Joshua Thiselton getting over the line in the corner but the try disallowed as being ruled in touch.

Sam Caddick , Cameron Cranny, Luc Holloway and Charlie Swift pushed through the middle but Langworthy scored the opening try of the half. Some fast tackles by Daniel Tabern, Ethan Moore and Reece Boadey couldn’t stop the Langworthy side who went over again and it was game on.

Jack Bailey and Max Tracey worked tirelessly in the centre, Daniel Sutton, Aaron Cranny and Kian Hurst ran at the line but it was Charlie Swift who went over for Pilks first try of the half and the last try of the game.

It was a close match but Pilks determination and enthusiasm came through at the end, well done to all the team!
