good foundation to build on

Pilks first game of the season was nearly called off due to Shevington's pitch being closed, but a change of venue at short notice saw Pilks with a bonus home game.

Shevington are a good strong physical side and took the game to Pilks from the kick off.
Pilks who are known for their slow starts struggled to keep the shark's out for the first 15 minutes.
The first quarter Pilks did not successfully stop a set of six but to be fair they were not walked over neither, with shevington only scoring on the fourth and fifth tackle in each set.
The first quarter saw Shevington post three unanswered tries.

The second quarter was much the same for the first five minutes, then Pilks suddenly upped their game with great line speed and ferocious tackling, Pilks made their first stop of the game and started to look like the team me and Dave believe in.
The second quarter like the first finished three nil to the visitor's.

In the third quarter Pilks got to grip's with the game and scored arguably the best try of the match from a set move which saw a sweet pass from Dezi Wilkinson to Rohan Heyes which allowed Rohan score without anyone laying a hand on him.
The third quarter ended one try apiece.

The fourth quarter Pilks kept competing and kept Shevington limited to just one try but were not able to score themselves, so the third quarter finished 1 nil to Shevington.

Captain Aaron Pinnington who was also awarded player of the match on his debut really got stuck in with his tackling and showed no fear taking the ball in, proving he is ready to play this season.

Tackler of the match Dezi Wilkinson played the best I have seen him play, not only in defence were he was a great but also in attack as well, setting up our only try of the game.

Parents choice Ryan Middlehurst is such a handful because he is so strong and his try saving tackle and strong carries were proof of that.

Kyle Montieth did well to get back into the game after a burst lip shook his confidence a bit.

Another two player's who I think deserve a special mention are our two young guns Max Nevitt and George Donoghue who I thought really stepped up in this game.

And with good games from Ben Lynch, Josh Kempster, Ryan Halsall, Rhys Edwards, Sam Nevitt, Jack McIntyre and Carl
Grimley were in good shape going forward and we defiantly have a good platform to build on from that second half performance.

Well done keep it up

From a personal point of view I couldn't have been prouder of everyone involved in this team because after the match someone know, one of the opposition parents come up to me after the match and said our lot are leaving with smiles on there face's what a lovely club you have here and that for me is job done so a big thank you to all involved yes even you ste heyes.
