Local Derby
19 of our Recs squad took on Blackbrook down at Ruskin today. With some brilliant tackling, strong running and even the odd drop off Recs really shown how far they have come recently.
With 9 lads who have only played a hand full of games it was impressive to see the skills on show today. Strong running in abundance and some great tackling from both sides had the two games neck and neck most of the morning.
In one game Recs began to take a strong lead 6 tries to 1 at half time thanks to some great running from Calum Smart and Archie Long, whilst in the other game it was 6-6 in tries at the break with Kajus Plauska showing his strength again and James Walkden using fast foot work and great handling to set up a couple of tries.
Into the second half and Recs continued to show the strength in their squad with Jake Leahey displaying fine footwork and a great turn of pace to score 4 tries. Kaiden Chadwick also bagging a couple with some strong running.
Some great defence today from Jordan Lee and Calum Smart helped keep brook at bay as they threw everything at Pilks.
Recs finished the morning winning both games but its fair to say both sides battled superbly today and I am sure this wont be the last great game between these two sides.
