Pilkington Recs 36 Rylands Shsrks 40

On a sunny morning at ruskin drive Pilks came across a strong running Rylands side who started the game in fine form catching Pilks cold to take an early lead. It took the recs boys a long time to get used to the new rules and use the size of the pitch to their advantage this would be a key factor with a pacey recs outfit eager to get round the Rylands defence. Pilks soon started to cause the Rylands side problems with Lewis Caine, and Rhys Helsby crossing the whitewash. Pilks where back in the game and a superb break away run from second rower Micheal Crabbe gave the energetic Helsby the chance to scoot over as Rylands struggled to get back. Rylands gave as good as the got in an end to end second half full of excitement attack was definitely on top but some great tackling from Jamie Williams helped keep the ruskin based side still in the game and with the game in its final quarter after Helsby and Caine crossed again Adam Abel showed blistering pace and fast feet to get a great sole effort to put the Pilks side infront 36-34. The Rylands boys wherent finnished as in the dying minutes they managed to sneak over in the corner to win the game. It was a cruel ending to what had been a great game for the recs boys, there was many positives to take from the day and im sure the lads will bounce back next sunday with an even better performance.

Best for recs today where Man of the Match Rhys Helsby and most improved Micheal Crabbe. Pilks where captained today by Rhys Ascroft after he showed great attitude and effort over the pre season.
