Pilkington Recs 12 Burtonwood Bulldogs 26

Todays game was finally played under some nice sunshine down at Ruskin Drive with Burtonwood providing the opposition.

The game started with recs showing some good handing skills and Burtonwood proving they had come to keep the ball alive, this was looking like it was going to be a very entertaining game.

Burtonwood capitalised on some naive defending from the Pilkingtons boys to score a couple of tries before the Ruskin based side woke up and realised they had to use width to break this good Burtonwood defence down.

Jamie Williams was having another storming game with great tackling and great handling skills this helped Pilks stop the strong Butonwood outfit from crossing until the impressive 9 from the Burtonwood took hold of the game and created two fantastic individual scores with raw pace and good footwork.

The Pilkingtons outfit dug deep and showed some fantastic skills to get the ball through hands and were unlucky not to convert these chances into tries.

Firstly Ryan Lockett was held up over the line after a powerful effort, then Jared Orrick was inches short after a sharp scoot from acting half.

Pilks where throwing everything at the lads from Warrington and this pressure eventually told with Lewis Caine crossing out wide.

Pilks weren't done yet and Adam Able pushed into hooker to scoot from his wing position using great pace to sprint over for Recs second of the day.

After some strong running from Adam Taylor, Pilks had good field position and Lewis Caine took full advantage to scoot from 5 yards out to cross for his second.

The Pilks lads showed improvement today in communication and were unfortunate not to get get a result today.
