After not having a game last Sunday the boys where eager to get back to their beloved rugby league. Everyone expected a tight encounter as both sides

had similar results so far this season. Atherton started the brighter with Pilks making errors in their own half giving the visitors good field position it was only a matter of time till the Dragons got on the score sheet. After going down early the Pilks side seemed to wake up and started to show what they are capable of with some good attacking play from the backline and strong running from the forwards and with Lewis Caine back after several weeks out due to an operation it was inevitable the outside back would score to level. With both teams converting their tries it was 6-6 the dragons again put pressure on the Recs line and went over with a scoot from 5 yards out. After some good sets from the home side they managed to pin Atherton in their own half and on the fifth and last Atherton kicked high to Adam Abel who caught the ball and showed blistering pace to go the full length of the pitch and score, Again he added the extras. Yet again Atherton managed to cross to put themselves ahead and yes u guessed it again the boys in red amber and black leveled with fullback Rhys Helsby throwing a dummy and gliding through the gap to score from his own half, unfortunately he wasn't able to add the extras. Atherton again took the lead with some strong running with the game going into its final quarter the Ruskin based outfit upped their game and Ryan lockett powered through for a score to level and added the two and then minutes later Lewis Caine found space and went over in the corner after a great pass from Helsby Pilks where ahead 28-22 with only 5 minutes left. Unfortunately they weren't able to hold on and Atherton scored to level with three minutes left it was tense and as tight as a game goes it could have gone either way with both sides doing all they could to try and win the game but some great defense from both teams ensured the spoils where split. Yet another great game to watch from the under 10s keep it up guys.
