Rise of the recs continues as they improve yet again and run a Blackbrook side who beat the Pilks outfit 60-0 only 6 months ago very close.

Infact until the final 10 minutes the ruskin based side were within a score of the royals and it was only exhaustion from so much work defensively that sore the brook side stretch the lead.

The game started with Pilks showing great attitude in defence all working for eachother to put the visitors under pressure, this saw pilks turn the ball over in the brook half. Unfortunately Pilks came up with a handling error on the first tackle, Blackbrook threw everything at the Recs and recs scrabbled and kept them out but the errors in attack kept coming this ment Pilks had to defend 5 sets back to back in there own half the pressure finally told after some superb defensive work from Pilks brook managed to get 5 yards away from the try line and resorted to using the gigantic front rower who crassed over.

This didnt deter the lads as they upped there game yet again defending immensely and testing the Brook defence with great expansive rugby and big runs from the pack.

Half time came with brook leading 6-0 a massive improvement on the 36-0 at the same stage 6 months earlier. Pilks where caught cold in the first 10 mins of the second half and brook managed to creep in at the corner. They then backed this up with another try with a powerful run from a forward.

Some sides may have folded not this Recs outfit not today they rallied together and battled back to score through the outstanding Michael Crabbe after great work from Adam Taylor.

Then after more top defence from Pilk saw them have a scrum in there own 20, Lewis Caine showed great power and pace to score an awesome solo effort he also goaled to make it 18-10 brook where wobbling.

Then the tiredness kicked in and Pilks couldnt keep up the excellent defensive effort they had put in Brook made them pay with a great try from their fullback they backed this up with another score late on which made the score flatter the brook side in what was a tough fought game where every player gave there all.

Man Of The Match was birthday boy Michael Crabbe
Top Tackler the consistent Jared Orrick
and Forward of the week Adam Taylor but all the players should be proud of there efforts and how much they ave improved bring on clock next week in another big derby.
