Recs keep on building

Recs made the short trip over to Halton Farnworth this morning, with the coaches looking to gauge any improvement on our progression from when these two teams met last year when Farnworth where runaway leaders, and had kept us scoreless .
Recs started slowly, and struggled to find any footing in the first half to build on, that being said good things were developing, with forwards Sam Caddick, Kyle Prescott, Cameron Cranny & Jacob Wilding running off 1st receiver well with Max Tracey giving good direction to our game. Recs first try scorer was Daniel Tabern showing how deadly he is in broken play. Luc Holloway Converted. In defence our line speed wasn't what it can be, and our short side was exploited and punished. Partly I feel because we offered far too much respect to the opposition, and didn't back ourselves enough. The believe was a little short In the first half, and to be fair Farnwoth have been a very dominate team in our age group for a number of years.
In the second half Recs looked sharper, Kyle Prescott showed no respect and really put him self about, and Sam Caddick, who is really starting to blossom into a top front rower. Again line speed and lack of communication was our downfall, and teams like Farnworth don't need second chances. Saying that, at times our defence was very good. Max Tracey was hungry to defend, we forced errors and disrupted their plays by pressuring their halfs. We defended our line well also, with Aaron Cranny performing a top draw try saving tackle, but as coaches we want the team to be defending further upfield, it was impressive non the less.
Reece Boadey was introduced part way through the second half, and looked a real threat. Executing one of his fine one on one tackles he is renowned for.
Tom Kilgannon was to score Recs second try, with a typical elusive jinking running that left Farnworth grabbing fresh air. Reece Boadey Converted.
And Recs final try, in the final play of the game was from dangerous Daniel Tabern, again in broken play, and again ruthless. Joshua Burton converted .

Special Mentions for Sam Caddick, (Most Improved) Playing with real believe (Top Tackler) For a second week in a row go's to Ethan Moore, the lad just loves to tackle. Kyle "bowling ball" Prescott was just that today (Big Hitter) And Max Tracey (Man of the match)
Built on his previous weeks performance, not fazed at all by opposition, well deserved.

Todays captains:
Ethan Moore (Forwards)
Joshua Thiselton (Backs)

Had we made progress from this fixture last year?..... I wouldn't hesitate in saying yes, we have took great strides in a short space of time.
And the players should be proud of their efforts.
