Cracking game of rugby

Today Pilks hosted Leyland Warriors down at Ruskin Drive on a prefect day for rugby league.

Before I start with the game I would like to thank Leyland for coming and giving it their all, never giving up to the end and playing the game in the right spirit. Pilks know first hand what it is like to get beat and at the end of the game Leyland took the defeat on the chin.

Pilks won the toss and decided to take the kick off, Leyland in the first set made it 4-0 after making good yards down the pitch but the kick was missed. It was then Pilks turn with ball in hand on our 3rd tackle after some great running from Joe and Charlie putting codey in stricking distance of the try line so he could level the score 4-4, kick was missed. Leyland went 8-4 up on the next set but Pilks didn't lie down, the ball went through a few sets of hand and codey levelled the scores again.8-8 Leyland made some meters off strong running and the full back scooted from dummy half to make it 12-8. Again Pilks struck back making it 12-12 from a powerful run off josh knocking Leyland out the way to score his try. The last 2 tries came from Leyland in the first half and 1 kick was put between the sticks to make the scoreline 22-12 at the break.

After Pilks gathered their thoughts at half time and realised what they were doing wrong they went out in the second half and stepped up in defence. Leyland kicked off the second half and with 2 unanswered tries and a kick from logan it was back level at 22-22.
Leyland got another to make it 26-22 but again Pilks went down the other end with great running off Ross, archie and kyle putting us in a good position for codey to score his hattrick making it 26-26 with the kick to come. Josh was nominated and kicked the goal to make it 28-26. Leyland took the lead again with a converted try, 32-28. The next Pilks try came from kyle showing his speed and scoring in the corner but the kick was missed 32-32. Coming to the end of the game Leyland went ahead again but missed the kick which made it 36-32 but Pilks wasn't going to let the game slip, nothing was going to stop josh from going over in the corner 36-36 with the kick to come. Archie was picked to take the kick to put us ahead and did just that putting us 2 points infront. With the last set of the game it was upto Pilks to stop Leyland from scoring and with all the lads working as a team and pulling together they kept Leyland out to win the game.

Captain was ross today and put in some good runs with the ball in hand.
Joe and Charlie made good meters but what impressed me the most about these lads was how much they got stuck in with the defence.
kyle made some good breaks in attack and did his bit in defence.
Codeys defence was great aswell as in attack.
Josh again had a fantastic game as always.
Archie just loves to tackle and did just that.
Sam is a great player to coach cause he wants to learn and linking up with archie today was brilliant.
keiron played his heart out today always doing his bit in defence also scooting from dummy half.
Logan played a blinder today making great meters for the team with his darting runs also putting in some good defencive work.

Picking the awards today was hard because everyone of the lads played outstanding,

Team Player went to codey
Parents Choice went to Archie
