On a cold Sunday morning for both sides, Pilks u8's were left a little shell shocked in the early exchanges. The strong running and quick defensive line from Latchford caught us all off guard.
However captained by Rebecca Benthom, this Recs side were in no mood to give up. With Joshua Thiselton & Joshua Burton constantly probing for space and Cameron Cranny running strong and hard, we made good yards. Pilks go forward was good at times and put us in great positions.
And with the all action Charlie Swift (reflected in being covered head to toe in mud!) being to hot to handle for the Latchford side, crashing over for all four of the recs tries. Pilks were in with a shout.
There were times Recs went close, Max Tracey was aware there was space outwide in the 2nd half and was unlucky not to cross the line a few times.
And with Jacob Wilding and Daniel Tabern running like a freight trains there were opportunities to score tries.
In defence Recs granted them too much time and space and were punished for this, and although there were some great tackles put in across the park, its a area we will need to improve on.
Man of the match for pilks was Charlie swift, with Cameron Cranny displaying his best game to date.
And more than worthy for a mention were the very impressive Daniel Tabern & Jacob Wilding who were both playing their first ever game of rugby league!
All in all, no disapointment here. Effort is all we ask for, and we got plenty.
Role on next week....
