Jamie Smith gives us his views on the week.

After a really positive pre-season it was disappointing to put in a performance like we did last week.

Taking nothing away from how Thornhill played, at times we overplayed due to frustration, whilst completion and skill level was far below the standards that the players have set for themselves.

This week is the first of 8 bus trips this year and the first of 3 to Cumbria. Millom pushed St Judes very close last week in Wigan, so I’m sure they’ll fancy their chances back at home this Saturday.

For ourselves, its a different challenge playing on grass, especially after only training and playing on an artificial pitch for 6 months, but it’s one we need to quickly become accustomed to, as half of this years games will be on grass.

We need to dust ourselves down and go into the game looking to control the factors which are in our hands, and not become overly frustrated about things which we can’t control. I’m sure that if we can compete in those areas then we’ll be there or thereabouts come the final whistle
