Impressive last time out, Pilks made the journey over to Halton for this much anticipated clash. Playing an expansive brand of rugby the newbies quickly put the hornets to the sword running out comfortable winners in this first game of two.
Led by the creativity of Tyler Smith, Pilks ball handling was too much for the opposition to handle, frequent off-loads and swift, precise passing left the hornets buzzing as Pilks combined to run in 13 tries.
Samuel Cricthley and Reuben Lawrenson performed a double-act in both attack and defence. Solid tackling throughout and strong running causing mayhem in the opposition ranks leading to both deservedly grabbing two tries each.
Typical days at the office for both Maquez Peyroux and Tommy Moores with 3 and 5 tries respectively, neither player took a backward step in defence either with their strong tackling knocking the hornets from back in their stride.
Jackson Cole topped the tackle count, his aggressive bone crunching challenges feared by the hornets’ ball carriers as they were stung repeatedly by the waspish defender.
Oban White played his usual style of uncompromising rugby, defending with all his might and running with purpose. Oban was duly rewarded with a try and was unlucky not to chalk up further scores as the game progressed.
Noah Darton controlled the defensive line with assurance, leading the charge and swarming out to meet the hornet’s attackers before they could make any ground.
A very impressive performance all round from the Pilks team.
