Pilks earn derby bragging rights
U7’s v Thatto Heath Crusaders
For the second game of the season the Recs made the short trip to Crusader Park to take on local rivals Thatto Heath.
This cross-town clash was played with incredible intensity from the outset - both teams matching each other try for try in the early stages. With inspiration from Coach Cole the red, amber and black found another gear and claimed a hard fought victory in this bruising encounter.
Man of the match Theo B-M had a storming game, bulldozing through the Crusaders time and time again to chalk up a well-deserved hat trick.
For the second week in a row, Maquez bagged the opposition player of the match for what was a brilliant display, taking control in both defence with some outstanding try saving tackles and in attack, recording four tries.
Star player Reuben put on a terrific defensive display, making tackle after tackle whilst playing his part in attack, scoring two hard-earned tries.
The attacking trident of Sam P, Sam C and Theo K entertained the crowd by throwing the ball around at will, creating confusion in the Thatto ranks and opportunities to score for the rest of the team whilst all also crossing the Crusaders line at least once.
Jackson played with his usual ferocity, relentlessly following up on every Crusader offload or loose ball to effectively snuff out the opposition and making a number of lung busting runs with ball in hand.
Special mention goes to recent recruits Nathan and Bobby who both played like they had been with the team for years, their contributions in attack and defence were superb with both boys thoroughly enjoying themselves throughout.
A truly resolute and entertaining performance from Recs to the delight of a number of proud parents
