u8’s v Saddleworth Rangers
This week, our beloved heroes welcomed far travelled Saddleworth Rangers to Ruskin Drive.
In a game balanced on a knife edge until the final quarter the red, amber and gold played a superb brand of running rugby which was mirrored by equal opposition.
In a see-saw of a match, tries were traded blow for blow with the game played in a tremendous sportsmanlike spirit that fostered enjoyment for both sets of fans. Fair play and respect was demonstrated right to the final whistle with all players and both coaches applauded from the pitch.
Ruby crossed for a lovely hat-trick of tries and was deservedly recognised as the opposition player of the match. Star player Theo K was as bustling as ever with his darting runs earning him the star player accolade. Well done to both.
Tries were shared across the team with all players involved in a sterling defensive effort which particularly pleased Coach Cole, who not to be outshone by his stars decided to perform some of his own theatrics and took an impromptu dive to the delight of the Recs support.
Special mention to this week’s debutant Joseph who looked like he had played with the team for years and was involved in all aspects of the game with some lovely running with the ball. Well done Joseph!
So unlucky with the result this week but an impressive performance nonetheless and all looking forward to next weekend.
