Sunday 20th June saw Mattys team travelling to Wilmere Lane, home of the Halton Farnworth Hornets for an 11:30 kick off.
Once the pitch was sorted, Recs were off to a flyer with Tommy registering his 1st try after only 11 seconds, leaving Halton shell-shocked and in for long first 10 minutes (12 n a half to be precise)
Team work, communication and organisation were the order of the day as the team captained by Tyler applied this weeks training to devastating effect. Tommy added another and Oban got his usual two tries as the first period came to a close.
Some massive runs from Leo, Toby, Oliver and Issac saw Pilks gain some valuable ground, and the solid defence display from Tyler, Tommy, Oban and Nathan carried over from the previous week.
The second period saw Halton up their game and cause Pilks some headaches with their pace, but Tries from Tommy and Toby kept Pilks just in front.
The third period saw Leo powering forward grabbing an important try, and the skipper skipped his way through Haltons defence to bag more points. Nathan, Oliver and Leo made some crunching tackles to keep Halton out in the fourth as defence stood strong and powered the Recs onto a deserved 24 - 56 victory. The passing was particularly pleasing this week, together with organisation, concentration and solid tackling.
Leo and Nathan took the Man of the Match and Star Player awards this week and looked every inch worthy of the accolade.
It was smiles all round as the players cheered themselves off the pitch to the the tune of "oh when the pilks, go marching on....."
