Pilkington Recs couldn't back up last week's win over Stanningley after defeat at league leaders Kells.
Pilks made four changes to the side that came back at Stanningley. Keenan Parr, Aidyn Jones, Ian Mather and Zak Hopkins came out of the side, while Josh O’Connell, Ben O’Connell and Ryan Lockett came into the side.
Pilks were on the back foot straight away, going 12-0 down inside nine minutes. But they did hit back not long after. Lewis Griffiths got free, kicked inside and Elliot Martin pounced onto it to score.
That was as good as it got in the first half, as the hosts ran in four more unanswered tries before the break.
Kells added another two tries, before Pilks hit back again.
It was another kick, this time from Phil Riley and Warren Paladino pounced to add another try. Tom Connick kicked the conversion.
That soon became two tries in five minutes, as Ben O’Connell got through a gap to score.
Once again, this respite proved only temporary, with Kells continuing their assault on the Pilks line with another four unanswered tries.
But Pilks kept going and got a fourth try for their efforts. Griffiths got clear again, but this time went himself and scored in the corner.
But the final word would go to the hosts, who racked up their 13th try of the afternoon.
Pilks are back at home next week against Shaw Cross Sharks.
