Before the game, there was a pitch inspection after concerns were raised about the hardness of the playing surface. But the pitch passed the inspection, and the game was cleared to go ahead.

Pilks made three changes to the side beaten at home to Leigh Miners. Ben O’Donnell, Jamie Smith and Peter Lenahan all came out of the side, while Dan Johnson came up from the U18s, and Lewis Griffiths came back into the side.

It was far from an ideal start for Pilks, who found themselves 16-0 down after just 18 minutes.

They hit back just after the 20 minute mark. Griffiths broke clear down the wing and got to the try line. Tom Connick couldn't add the conversion.

Just before the break, Pilks added a second try. Connick managed to step clear and got over under the posts. He converted to make it a six point game.

But East Leeds added another try in the final act of the first half to stretch their lead out to 12 points.

They added another try within a minute of the second half starting.

In the end, the hosts ran in 32 unanswered points in the second half to claim victory. This consisted of six tries and four goals.

Pilks now have a week off before they welcome Oulton Raiders to Ruskin Drive.
