Pilkington Recs suffered a damaging defeat away to Oldham St Annes.
Pilks made three changes from the side that drew against Dewsbury Moor last time out. Tyrese Daley, Elliot Martin and Lewis Caine all came out of the side, while Koby Prescott, Nathan Livesey and Ewan Gilford all came in.
It wasn't an ideal start for Pilks, who fell behind after just three minutes, but they hit back before the 10 minute mark. They created an overlap and George Hannan put Tyler Duberry over for the try. Josh O’Connell missed the conversion to make it four apiece.
The hosts retook the lead after 20 minutes, with Pilks fighting back before the break. Ben O’Connell put a grubber kick in, which came off the post and Warren Paladino reacted quickest to score. Tom Connick converted to put Pilks ahead.
But they couldn't see that through to half time. A flat pass found the centre who went over. It was converted for a 14-10 lead.
The second half was a much tighter affair, with neither side giving an inch in the opening exchanges.
But St Annes got what felt like a crucial try on the hour mark to take the game away from Pilks.
Pilks would score again with 13 minutes left to set up a nervy finale, Paladino getting an arm free to reach over for his second try of the afternoon.
But the hosts rubber-stamped their victory with a try in the final play of the game.
That result means Pilks will finish the season at least second bottom. They host Stanningley next week, hoping to end the campaign on a high note
