Pilks first match back after the summer break saw them making the journey to Folly Lane.
The team were all looking forward to playing again, and tried not to let the fact that we were playing on a very narrow pitch effect our game ( knowing the strength and speed on our wings make the standard/wide pitch our preferred option.)
The first half was closely matched at 2-1 to Folly Lane, with both teams running strong and tackling hard. Ethan Moore was outstanding in his tackling today and was the well deserved top tackler, however the rest of the team provided great support and he was followed closely by Rebecca Bentham, Joshua Thiselton and Daniel Tabern who all made some fantastic runs, with Daniel scoring the only try of the first half, and followed with another in the second half of the match.
Aaron Cranny, Jack Bailey, Max Tracey and Joshua Burton all tackled well and put in some great runs, with Max scoring 2 tries and Josh 1 to pull the score in the second half back to 5 all with one set to go.Both Max and Josh earning the Man of the Match and Most Improved trophies respectively.
Our big players today, Luc Holloway, Jacob Wilding, Daniel Sutton and Sam Caddick (who had a great first game for the team) gave us valuable meters up the middle of the pitch, Luc especially managed some great runs uphill in the second half. Dylan Haury proved how valuable he is becoming to the team , backing up , tackling and running strong.
Despite conceding on the last play Pilks can be proud of the effort each and every player put into the game. If they move forward with the same spirit and commitment the team can look forward to some good results as the season draws to a close.
