Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing!

For the first time Pilks had a full squad turn out for todays game against a tough Saddleworth side.

Despite 8 subs meaning we had plenty of coverage for injuries etc it did mean the players never fully got into the match, and after starting strongly with a 3-0 lead, the constant changing took its toll and Pilks had to be happy with a 6-6 draw.

From the start the enthusiasm was plain for all to see. Max Tracey (try), Rebecca Bentham (try) and Joshua Thiselton all got stuck in quickly, with big tackles and superb running - Rebecca earning the Steve Matai trophy and Josh the Man of the Match

Charlie Swift, Luc Holloway, Cameron Cranny and Jacob Wilding all ran hard at the opposition, and stood strong in defense, with Charlie making the most tackles and earning the Top Tackler Trophy. Ethan Moore, Reece Boadey and Dylan Haury made some great meters. Joshua Burton (try) and Jack Bailey ducking and diving and nipping through gaps, Daniel Tabern finding his way through to score 3 of the 6 tries in his usual confident manner running fast down the wing!

Kyle Prescot and Sam Caddick are settling in well, and made some good runs helping the team up the pitch.Aaron Cranny again threw himself into tackles and Daniel Sutton is gaining in confidence match by match and was well deserving in picking up the Most Improved Trophy.

Although the players had to contend with a pretty much stop and start appearance, when they were on the pitch everyone grouped together and some good teamwork was in evidence. At the end of the match Saddleworth even thought we had won, however a draw did appear to be a fair result from two teams who were pretty evenly matched on the day.

Plenty positives can be had from today, and the team should be confident moving into the following matches that Pilks , on the day, can be a match for anyone!

Well done lads and Rebecca!
