On a cold and wet Sunday morning Pilks put in another winning performance

Pilks U8s travelled to Westhoughton today, and welcomed Kian Hurst to the team as our latest player. Kian got stuck in and had a great first game.

On a smaller than usual pitch Westhoughton started off well and went over for the first try of the match despite Pilks efforts to keep them out. Pilks however hit back on the very next set with a superb solo try from Kyle Prescot on the first play of the ball, Kyles tackling was also first rate today!

Pilks defense held strong for the rest of the first half, with Joshua Burton and Joshua Thiselton bringing the line in and holding a solid defensive line, both also putting in some good runs with ball in hand.

In attack Pilks proved to be as enthusiastic as ever, Luc Holloway, Jack Bailey and Dylan Haury running fast at the line, but it was down to Daniel Tabern and Max Tracey (Hat trick) to get the ball over the line and the points on the board for Pilks.

Daniel Sutton and Sam Caddick provided some great support play, with Ethan Moore, Reece Boadey and Aaron Cranny defending superbly.

Westhoughton managed twice to break the Pilks defense in the second half but the effort from Pilks couldn't be faulted, and after the first play when Westhoughton went ahead Pilks never let their lead fall away.

Rebecca Benthom deservedly took the Man of the Match award, her running, support play and tackling today was first class.

With 2 more matches to go before the end of the season Pilks are finishing on a high and showing how much they have improved from this time last year! Big well done to all the team.

MAN OF THE MATCH: REBECCA BENTHOM
TOP TACKLER(S): ETHAN MOORE & KYLE PRESCOT
