Happy Mothers Day

After such a high last week in a close game against Widnes, hopes were high that Pilks could back it up this week with another great performance, after a great warm up Pilks looked ready and poised to do just that.

Pilks faced a good well drilled Shevington team with a very good defence and some very strong hard running playersl
In a game were Pilks were a bit under parr, with some good strong running from both teams unfortunatly its was Shevingtons eagerness in both attack and defence that won the game and although Pilks threatened Shevingtons line on numerous occassions they only managed to cross it once in the entire match.

The first half finished 3 tries to 0 in Shevingtons favour and the second half was pretty much the same as the first with the exception of a Dezi Wilkinson try and the second half finished with Shevington out scoring Pilks 3 tries to 1.

Its not all doom and gloom though, although Pilks were not on form defensivley they did run the ball in strong and passed well at times. One of the most pleasing things for me was how well the team organised themselves in the run order, the runs were given out at the binging of the match and for most part the children remembered the run order well, also the lads that helped Shevington out by playing for them did themselves and the club proud.

It reinforced to me what a good set of parents we have in our team, with volenteers helping out when needed and the general attitude of so what we had an off day as long as the kids are happy thats all that matters.

Dezi Wilkinson was honorary captain, running well all game and scorer of Pilks only try.

Ryan Halsall was player of the match running strong and straight all game also tackling well with one tackle in particular really standing out.

Rohan Heyes was awarded tackler of the match even though he was asked to cover the wings a lot he was highest on the tackle count and always comeing in field looking for more work.

Parents choice Callum Taylor put eveything into the game as usual and when he turned his shirt inside out and played for them caused us some problems and started to throw the ball about well.

Joeseph Hunter and Jack McIntyre were two other players who helped Shevington out on the day and did us all proud with Shevingtons coach made up with all the players that helped out.

Even after taking a knock this did not slow Nathan Flynn down and he was another player high up in the tackle count.

Although Rhys Edwards didnt have one of his better games ( by is own standards) after looking at the tackle count this just shows how good a player he really is.

With George Donoghue and Mackenzie Smith improving each week i still have no doubt of this teams talent.

Well done keep it up
