Pilks valient until the end

On Sunday Pilks were pitted against a good Folly Lane side that boasted some big physical player's, which Pilks at times handled very well, but other times they were guilty of going too high and being a little to soft in the tackle, this was Pilks undoing in the end. Lets not take anything away from the boys because all in all this was another good performance from them and they are starting to show consistancey which will pay off in the long run.

This match showed what a great attitude this team has, because when a descision goes for or against them, the result is the same they dont moan and whinge they just get on with it, play rugby and have fun.
It was a tight game which saw the first half end two tries a piece.

The second half was not much difference and defences were on top, with the game poised at three apiece with Folly Lane on their last set, the ball came out to one of Follies bigger players who used his strength to fend off would be tacklers and score the winning try, this was a bit disappointing for Pilks who did deserve something out of the game but can be proud of how they played.

Honorary Captain and Parents Choice Ryan Halsall continued his impressive form with some strong runs and impressive defence.

Rhys Edwards was awarded Player of the Match. I have been waiting for Rhys to have a break out game and this was it scoring two tries, he was also high on the tackle count but what has really been impressing me the past couple of weeks is his off loads.

George Donoghue althougth one of our youngest players is coming on really well and even though he got hurt in this game he still managed double figures in his tackle count.

Ben Lynch was a little low on confidence this week with his running, but this did not stop him putting in some really good tackles.

Nathan Flynn with his jinking style of run makes him a handfull for any defence and this week was no exception. He was unlucky not to score with a great break down the touch line.

Dezi Wilkinson was great again this week in attack with some strong direct running.

Joeseph Hunter was fearless again this week in attack, running strong and straight down the middle of the park regardless of how big the defender is.

Jack McIntyre probably our most improved player this year so far, kept up his eye catching performances, running strong, scoring a try and was second highest in the tackle count.

Rohan Heyes who is the feature of our new player profile slot this week was again a consistant perfomer with great go forward and great solid defence.
