Back with a bang

All week we have talked in training about getting back to playing well and our first game back was against a relatively new side in Limehurst so it was a good opportunity for us to get back to playing like we know we can.

Although Limehurst are new to the game and only had the bare nine players, two of them being under 7's, I thought they made a good account of themselves and ran onto the ball really well but it was Pilks experience and the fact we had subs that won through in the end.

The game to be fair was dominated by Pilks from start to finish, but to be honest I thought we started the a little bit tentatively and it was only when we were sure that we could match them in contact did we start to get stuck in and Pilks played really well in the first half with the only disappointing aspect was we let in a soft try near the end of the half.
The first half finished 5 - 1 in Pilks favour

At half time we talked about contact being soft at times and we wanted to improve defence and stop giving away easy yards and this is what we did the line speed improved the contact was better and apart from one of there big lads scoring in the corner the second half was pretty much everything we could ask for strong running good contact and some great set moves and tries with the xbox with a pass the highlight for me.
The second half finished 6 - 1 in Pilks favour

Honorary captain Ryan Halsall lead from the front today with some strong running and really big hits.

Player of the match Leon Griffin showed his bravery today with some great tackles on bigger lads and took his try really well with some good foot work.

Top Tackler Jack McIntyre not only was up there in the tackle count but also scored a hat trick of tries as well.

Parents choice Nathan Flynn added two tries to his tally and also showed us his great footwork and was our second highest tackler.

Joseph Hunter seemed to grow in confidence as this game went on and really upped his game in defence and ran very strong too

Kyle Monteith another one of the try scorers today was back to standing players up in the tackle.

Ben Lynch showed when he is up for it he can take the ball in fast and strong.

It was nice to see Rhys Edwards back on a pitch after a spell out of the game because of holidays and a small thing like a broken finger ;-) and he proved today why we like him so much as a player in both attack and defence.

Max Nevitt showed us a different part of his game today with a great side step that made good yards down the centre of the pitch.

Sam Nevitt is so big and strong he his hard to handle and when he puts his body into a tackle he just stops players dead which I saw him do on a few occasions.

Dezi Wilkinson was asked to give us his style of rugby today which is hard tackles and strong hard runs to make good yards and this is what he did time and time again.

Rohan Heyes was his usual consistent self, his pace cause's defences problems every week and this week was no exception but what I like is that he is not afraid to put his body on the line in defence.

Geaorge Donoghue continued his form from training by putting his body on the line in the tackle and was unlucky not to score, I think I heard all our parents egging him on, that try is not far off I think

Today was a good all round performance but I think we fell into the trap of using our strength to get over line when we was in the opposition's corner rather than playing out of the corner were there was so much more space.

Well played today boys keep it up
