Hard work finally pays off

On Sunday Recs visited a depleted Halton Farnworth Blacks side, in beautiful sunny conditions. Firstly I'd like to thank each one of my players who did a fair , honest stint playing for the opposition, making sure that we all had a really enjoyable game of rugby. Played between two good sides in exactly the right spirit.
All of the players from both teams deserved a lot of credit for playing some great rugby in really hot conditions.
Pilks eventually ran out 12-8 winners in what was a really even contest.
The first quarter ended with the score at 3-3 to Recs. Recs try's coming from Connor Stubbs, Harvey Cathcart and Max Fear.
Aaron King, Lewis Shaw, Heidi Bayley and Billy Traynor all did an excellent stint for the hosts with the latter grabbing a try for Halton.

The score in the second quarter was 2- 3 in Recs favour with our try's coming from Noah Heaton, Jak Davies and Harvey Cathcart with his second of the game. Jak , Max , Josh and Aaron all playing well for the home side.

The third quarter ended with recs scoring 3 unanswered try's coming from Max Fear , Josh Hunt and Lewis Shaw with a try on his first game for Recs. Most impressive of all though in this period of the game was our defence, which was the best its been all season. Connor , Billy , Harvey and Jak all excelling for the opposition.

The fourth quarter was again a 3-3 scoreline with both teams starting to struggle in the heat the attackers were definitely on top. Our try scorers were Jak Davies , Max Fear and Connor Stubbs grabbed a try for Recs and for Halton during his stint with them. With Noah , Josh and Lewis also playing well for them.

Our captain for the day was Connor Stubbs, who led from the front from start to finish. Connor was brilliant today grabbing three try's in total but even more impressive was his defence. Almost every tackle either for us or the opposition he was off his line and involved in the tackle. Well done !

Billy Traynor. Billy was great for both us and Halton today . He was organising the attacks well and tackling his heart out. He seemed to be everywhere . Not sure where he gets his energy from but he's a great lad to have in the team. Well done !

Heidi Bayley. Heidi played her first game for us today and she was outstanding. Eager to get involved, always available for the ball and really getting stuck in defensively. Well done !

Harvey Cathcart . Harvey had one of his best games so far. He always runs really well with the ball and today was no exception, grabbing two tries and going close on a few more occasions . Most impressive for me though was his effort in defence, chasing around everywhere and talking his heart out. Well done!

Max Fear . Max plays well every week, and this week was no different he added another three try's to his impressive tally, and never stopped tackling. Well done!

Josh Hunt . Josh was great for both teams today running with the ball really well as he always does , he's really hard to stop but when he was he always seemed to be able to offload creating lot of scoring opportunities for his team mates. Well done!

Aaron King . Aaron , unlike him never got on the score sheet today but his strong elusive running and brilliant offloads created numerous try's for his team mates, and he defended his channel really well. Well done!

Again today as I've said everyone was excellent which made giving awards out doubly hard.

Our two top tackler awards went to.
Firstly Noah Heaton, what a game, not only did he score a superb full length try, which even had his Dad dancing down the touchline. (Sorry Mike couldn't resist)! But defensively he was superb. Off his line quick, wrapping the ball up every time , exactly what we've been asking for . Well done !

Secondly Lewis Shaw , his first game an what a game. Not only did he score on debut but he got involved in every part of play. Defensively he was solid but he got this award for one tackle he did for Halton , chasing one of our fastest lads Billy almost the full length and saving a certain try. Well done!

Our two man of the match awards went to.
Firstly Jak Davies . Jak was outstanding today for both teams, scoring two for recs and setting up one for Halton with an absolute beauty of a pass out wide . He also got involved in loads of tackling. Well done !

Secondly our parents choice MOM went to Connor Stubbs. he did everything well today both with the ball and without it. he had another great game in what is turning into a wonderful season for him. Well done!

All in all a thoroughly well earned first win of the season and as I said after the game , I'm proud of every single one of the team.
Well done , KEEP IT UP!
