Great performance from the boys

Today our under 12's travelled to Warrington, to face Latchford Giants . A strong, physical side, looking to grab the same result as when the two sides met last season.

The message at the start of the game was to start strong and not let their big physical forwards get on top of them. The start didn't go to plan as on of those forwards scored in the corner from the base of the scrum. I was a worrying start as a knock on from the next kick off meant Recs having to defend their line again.
But some really aggressive line speed and strong defense brought an error from the hosts.
Pilks scored from the resulting scrum with a full length try from the ever impressive Brad Abbott . Two further brilliant trys from Ellis Horton, with a superb show and go, and Connor Stubbs using his strength to go in the corner after some brilliant passing to create the space meant Pilks holding a lead at the break
Half time .
Latchford Giants 6-16 Pilks Recs.
The half time team talk was easy enough after a great first half.
Just carry on everything you are doing boys!

The second half went much the same way as the first with Recs defence in outstanding form.
A brace of trys from debutant Lewis Graham , with some strong runs from prop took the game away from the Giants . But the best team try was saved for last. After a great carry from Jack Pope quick play the ball. Aaron King took on the line, offloaded to Josh Yates who spread the ball through the halves, Billy Traynor and Ellis Horton, the latter finding Connor Stubbs in space, who unselfishly threw a looping ball out to Tom Binsteed in acres of space to go in at the corner. Cue the celebrations as the whole team mobbed Binners!
After conceding two penalties late on to give Latchford some field position the hosts grabbed a try with the last play of the game to make the final score .
