Latchford Giants vs Pilkington Recs u13

Today our under 13s got their first league campaign underway.
With only one game under our belts in pre season the fear was the lads would be a bit rusty against a very strong Latchford side.
These fixtures are always very competitive and today was no different.
The game played in glorious sunshine got underway with an error from the home side straight from the kick off. With Pilks in a great position it didn't take long for captain Ellis Horton to go in in the corner.
The Giants hit straight back with a great try of their own soon after levelling the game at 4-4.
The rest of the halfway ver closely fought but it was Recs who scored two late trys both fro the ever impressive Brad Abbott. The first a great passing move creating an overlap. The second a great short side play.

The second half started with the hosts firing back at Recs with two early converted trys to take the lead for the first time.
With Pilks a man down after a sin bin and heads starting to drop it was a worrying phase of the game.
The lads however found their second wind and showed some real grit and fight for each other and played some great attacking, expansive rugby league and ran in three unanswered rys. Two more from Brad Abbott and one from Connor Stubbs, each converted by Abbott. The last one right off the touchline .
Rounding off a very impressive win.
