A game of two thirds

Pilkington Recs U7's faced a Hindley team that was big, fast and more experienced but saying that after a slow start in the first third this was to be a game that Pilks showed what they are made of.
In the other 2 thirds of the match we saw this Pilks team defend well, run well and on the whole showed the sort of form that will stand them in good sted for the future. Pilks came close to Hindleys line on numerous occasions but could not quite breach it, they also defended their own line with vigour and purpose. Making Hindley work hard for every try and by the third period Pilks looked like a team that was really enjoying themselves.

Honorary Captain Tyrese Daley led from the front running well and proving that he just loves to tackle earning him parents choice and a special certificate from the Hindley coaches. Nathan Flynn received coaches choice in what was his best game to date running strong and some great tackling, while Codey Massam picked up player of the match on his debut for his strong defence and hard direct running.

Liam Coughlin and Harry Thompson were as always a hand full, both these players are consistantley good strong runners who make the opposition tackle in numbers and work hard if they want to bring any of these two to the ground, Jake Abel again this week played the game as he always does with great skill tackling above his weight but most importantly plays with a smile on his face. Ryan Halsall proved although he is one of the younger ones he his one to watch, running well and tackling strong, last but by no means least Jack Thompson Smith who ran well not taking a backward step, he was on his game mentally as well, paying attention all the way through this resulted in his best game to date.

I will finish this report with a quote from Hindleys coach "Pilks never took a backward step and kept going when other teams would have let their heads drop"

well done keep it up
