Pilkington Recs U7's turned up at Oldham St Annes today a little short of numbers, so in the good spirit of rugby were loaned 3 players.

The game was played on a pitch that could only be described as water logged, but this did not dampen the spirits of Pilks and in the first third of the match both sides cancelled each other out and the first third ended 3-3, more tries in the second third to make it 6-5 to Oldham with a third to go.
This final third was were tiredness and cold was starting to set in and unfortunately for Pilks with some of their teammates missing the loan players didn't have the same go forward, never take a backward step attitude that this Pilks team is starting to develop.

Honorary Captain Nathan Flynn got parents choice for his strong running and good tackling, Ryan Halsall played well in attack and defence earning him player of the match and also scoring his first try for the club. While Zak Mulcahy was awarded coaches choice for an excellent performance scoring three tries, among them was what could only be described as the longest try in rugby league history, running side to side countless times beating each player two or three times before finally going over the line.

Jake Abel bagged himself another try in yet another great all round performance taking his tally up to 7 tries for the season. It is easy to forget that Codey Massam is playing only his second game of rugby league tackling well and running strong and last but not least Harry Thompson a consistent performer who week in and week out uses his strength to gain good yards and tackles hard.

In conclusion this was a good game played in good spirit in difficult conditions
