A little short on numbers today due to illness and other commitments, Pilkington Recs U7's loaned a couple of players off Westbank who were glad to give a couple of their lads game time and to be fair both these lads helped to contribute to what was a very good all round performance by Pilks.
Pilks started the game well working as a team running hard and tackling well, this was to continue in the second third. As in the first third they took the game to Westbank making them work for every try and getting near Westbanks line with virtually every set of six, Westbank had to show a good defence to keep Pilks from crossing the line.
It was the last third were Pilks really improved by stepping up another level in defence and finding the try line on three occasions by taking the ball straight down the middle, with two good tries by Zak Mulcahy and the final try to make the last third a three all draw was by one of the loaned players proving the good sportsman that is showed in the sport.
Honorary captain was Jake Abel who is not a vocal captain but lets his action's speak for him, top try scorer Zak Mulcahy added two tries to his tally this week and walked away with coaches choice, Ryan Halsall received parents choice and Codey Massam was awarded a very closely contested player of the match.
If i named the all the players individually then i would be saying exactly the same thing, ran well, tackled strong, worked hard and was unlucky not to score because i think nearly every player came close today. So with this in mind Jake Abel, Harry Thompson, Logan King, Nathan Flynn, Zak Mulcahy, Codey Massam and Ryan Halsall well done.
In short, great team performance and you all made fathers day a great day for your dads
Keep it up
