On a hot sunday morning Pilkington U7's came across a well drilled hard hitting Leigh Miners side. Pilks gave it their all, but unfortunately they could not hold Leigh who played some very good expansive rugby passing the ball well.
Pilks did come close to scoring on a couple of occasions, with the best chance coming from Zak Mulcahy who was stopped just inches from the line and yet again this week Pilks found out how hard it is to score when your only yards from the oppositions try line.
Nathan Flynn captained the side and also was awarded player of the match, after good steady performances each week this sort of performance was on the cards, he come up with some great runs and good tackles and side stepped well.
Coaches choice went Zak Mulcahy for his usual hard work in defence and great running, at one stage I thought we had two Zaks on because he seemed to be everywhere.
Jake Abel (the smiling assassin) received parents choice for his usual determind performance that always keeps him in contention for the special certificates.
Ryan Halsall walked away the tackler of the match for the second week running, putting his body on the line on more than one occasion with some big hits.
Logan King ,Codey Massam and Ryan Manning showed their bravery and determination, all three took some big hits forcing them to have a little minute on the side line to recover, then had the bottle not only to go back on but to take a productive role in the game, so much so for Ryan Manning he only just missed out on a special certificate. Jack Thompson Smith played well making sure he gained yards every time he took a run and never took a backwards step.
Well done boys keep it up and keep your chin up, your all improving every week and just remember its not the results that matter, its just a game so have fun
