On a hot sunny Sunday morning the temperature was hot on the field and I dont mean just the weather, in a game that wasn't always played in the best sporting spirit Pilks Recs put up a good display in defence and in attack.
The first 3rd finished 4 - 1 but Pilks had come close on numerous occasion's. In the second third Pilks were asked by their own coaches to work together better as a team in defence, which they did very well by limiting Ince to two tries and again crossing the try line themselves for their second try.
By the final third with some of the play being less sporting and tempers starting to fray a little, Pilks proved they were the bigger team by sticking to playing rugby league and showing a good sense of discipline and again as in the second third limited Ince to only two tries, but unfortunately could not get on the score sheet themselves.
On his debut was Callum Taylor who captained the side and received tackler of the match, with a good all round performance and one particular tackle that would have made a super league coach happy.
Another player on his debut was Joseph Hunter who was awarded player of the match, he may have been the smallest player on the pitch but he showed big heart and never took a backward step.
Liam Coughlin proved what a valuable player he is although running late and missing some of the first third, still put in a good performance to win parents choice.
Tyrese Daley got coaches choice with another eye catching performance running well, tackling very well was unlucky not to score.
Nathan Flynn played well again, side stepping his way to some great run's. Ryan Halsall was in the running again this week for tackler of the match with some great hits.
Zak Mulcahy Pilks top try scorer added two tries to his tally and played the only way he knows how, full throttle.
Codey Massam who play's consistently well did so again this week and I am sure a try is not far away for this young player.
Well done boys, you kept your cool in very difficult circumstances and showed a lot of pride and dignity.
