Pilk's couldn't quite tame the big cat's

In the first game back after the summer break Pilkington Recs Under 7's were eager to play and play they did, although the score line makes the game look totally one sided, it was far from that.

Pilk's have been working hard in training and it showed on the pitch. After putting in a great training session on Thursday Pilks backed it up with a good team performance with some great tackles against a physically big Chorley side. The organisation at the play of the ball and run allocation was much improved this week and the defensive line was a lot better organized as well.

Pilks in the first two thirds played well and nearly crossed the line on a few of occasions but unfortunately were just kept out, then of course in the final third which is typical of this Pilks side they decide to score not just one try but two tries.

Honorary Captain Ryan Manning lead from the front running well and always looking to off load in the tackle, which unfortunately he just couldn't get it away this week.

Player of the match was Logan King winning the award for the first time doing his fair share in attack and defence.

Ryan Halsall received parents choice for his strong running and coming up with some great tackles and really putting his body on the line at times.

Top tackler was a hard desicion this week and had to be awarded to two players, Nathan Flynn for his much improved tackling style and Jake Abel proving you don't have to be big to tackle well, with one try saving tackle in particular standing out,a one on one against a much bigger player.

Zak Mulcahy was awarded coaches choice adding another two tries to his ever increasing tally.

Liam Coughlin was a little bit off his game today due to tiredness but this did't stop him having a big impact and was very unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions.

Codey Massam had a good game and ran really well making good yards and doing his work in defence well.

And last but in no way least Callum Taylor it is very easy to forget that this young man has only just turned six, great game again this week with some very good tackles and was unlucky just to miss out on a special certificate.

In my opinion this was a good all round team performance and the work we have been doing in training is really paying off, but the thing i liked most was in the club house after the game, everybody was laughing and joking showing good team spirit and a good relationship between coaches and players.

Well done keep it up
