With 3 players on their debut and 3 substitutes for the first time, this performance was a bit disjointed and Pilks never really got to grips with game. I think so many changes at once and new situations for the coaches as well having so many subs, this game was great learning curve for us all and there was a lot of positives to come out of the game as well.
One thing however that didn't change was how Pilks grew into the game conceding 3 tries in the first 2 thirds of the game and limiting Burtonwood to just 2 tries in the last third. This game saw some big hits by both sides, as well as some great runs and Pilks showed a toughness making Burtonwood use 5 of their 6 tackles forcing them to send in there bigger lads to punch home the tries.
Honorary captain Kyle Dancer played well on his debut well enough in fact to catch the eye of Burtonwood's coach awarding him coaches choice.
Player of the match was awarded to Tyrese Daley who's tackling was as strong and well timed as any player I have seen at his age, but nearly threw it away by letting his emotion's get the better of him.
Codey Massam was voted parents choice with a good display of running.
Callum Taylor won a closly contested tackler of the match award with some low text book tackling.
Ryan Halsall tackled well and took a couple of big hits and just kept getting up for more.
Rohan Heyes and Dezi Wilkinson were the other two players on their debut's and both played well and really seemed to enjoy the occasion.
Ryan Manning really got stuck in this week, he is a young man who is really enjoying his rugby and always looks for the off load.
Logan King put in another good performance this week, not backing down no matter how big the player running at him was.
Joseph Hunter the little player with a big heart, not scared to run at their defence, tackled well and ran well with one run in particular standing out when he took Burtonwood on down the wing.
Liam Coughlin was unlucky again this week not to score with some really good running and proving yet again to be a hand full.
Nathan Flynn was ever present and my opinion is a player that is improving week by week and is not far off a stand out game.
All in all this wasn't one of Pilks best team performances but like I said some real big positives, the biggest being the commerardary after the match all playing together and making so much noise they had to be asked to quieten it down a bit lol.
Well done keep it up
