Pilks U7's 6 - 9 Langworthy Reds

Lee Halsall29 Sep 2013 - 15:51

Pilk's slowest start yet

After a very slow start probably the worst this U7's have played so far, not completing a single tackle never mind a set of six. Leaving the coaching staff scratching their heads and asking the question is it something we are doing wrong, but having said that pilks still managed to score and walked off the first third only 3-1 down.

The coaches then asked each player to stand up and be counted and sort out their defence which is exactly what Pilks did and produced the best 2 thirds of rugby I have seen from this side, moving up in a line and tackling well, making Langworthy earn their tries and not just scoring on their first attack and were really unlucky not to keep Langworthy out on the their last drive.

Pilks are now proving that they are not just a one man team with four different try scorers again this week and now proving they can move up in a line and tackle I am pretty sure this team will be ok.

Honorary Captian Liam Coughlin had a great day running and was unlucky not to score, brought down just before the line by a great tackle from a Langworthy player.

The coaches wanted to put the focus on defence this week, which was the reason that player of the match and tackler of the week went to the same player Ryan Halsall.

Codey Massam was clear winner of parents choice this week, playing with a lot of confidence and adding another try to his tally.

Logan King was awarded coaches choice for yet another solid all round performance.

Zak Mulcahy who I was told after the match has not been well this week proved his class with another hat trick.

Joseph Hunter was asked before the match to be brave and finish his runs after a big hit last week knocked his confidence, which he did with some very good runs.

Nathan Flynn, Callum Taylor, Jake Abel, Kyle Dancer and Harry Thompson all putting in good performances especially in attack.

All in all a really enjoyable day (when we got going lol )and many thanks to Mark from Langworthy who refereed the match very fair.

Some massive positives today we can build on, well done keep it up
