Today was a good day and a sad day as well, because this wasn't just the last game of the season but the last day these players will all play together.
Before the match the children were told to go and have fun and play for each other and that is what they did, right from the start and denied Halton a try on their first possession, the good defence was kept up all game. Although Halton scored 3 tries in every third they never got an easy point with Pilks showing the sort of performance they have been threatening all year and some times you cant stop out and out speed, which Halton had a couple of players with pace to burn.
First third 3 - 1
Second third 3 - 2
Last third 3 - 1
Honorary Captain Harry Thompson played well again this week, having back to back good games.
Player of the match went to Callum Taylor, a young player who not only has a mean hand off but will tackle any one put in front of him.
Logan King was parents choice, a player that has come on in leaps and bounds since he started and also scored 2 tries today.
Coaches choice was Tyrese Daley a player with as much natural ability for the game has anyone I have seen.
Tackler of the match Codey Massam, showed a big improvement in his defence this week.
Also awarded Tackler of the match was Ryan Halsall, putting in some good hits again this week and scoring his third try for the club.
Joseph Hunter my little pocket coach, played well in his first game back after recovering from a cut to his head (not from playing rugby may I add), even though it was fully healed he was still conscious of it.
Nathan Flynn a player with a good side step, also has stepped up his defence over the past few weeks.
Liam Coughlin was unlucky not to score and made good yards forward with every run.
Ryan Manning looked to off load in every tackle and even though he was wrapped up by a few players still looked to get the ball out.
Kyle Dancer ran well and is always looking to find a gap.
Zak Mulcahy was back to his best today scoring a try and looking like a child who has got his energy back.
It has been a pleasure to coach you all this season, all players that are moving up me and Dave Flynn are going to miss you on a Sunday, but will see you around the club. Good luck for next season and good luck to Dave Massam, Stewart King and Lee Dancer coaching the new Under 8's.
To all those who are staying with me and Dave Flynn good luck also, you will need it putting up with us for another year lol
Well done keep it up
