Pilks U7's best performance to date

Pilkington Recs U7's were hosted today by a big Golborne Parkside team. The pitch was a bit boggy, but the weather was perfect for a good game of rugby and that's what we got.

The first third Golborne out scored Pilks 2 tries to 1 with some good rugby and defence showed by both sides.
In the second third instead of Pilk's letting their heads drop the opposite happened and Pilks started to get to grips with Golborne's big lads and out scored Golborne 2 tries to 1, bringing the game level and setting it up for a great third period.
By this time Pilks had the belief and got to grips with Golborne defensively as well as in attack, Pilks scored 3 tries and kept Golborne scoreless with some impressive defence, despite being down to 8 men.

Honory Captain Tyler Robinson showed again this week good signs of what he is about and although new to the game played well.

Player of the match Nathan Flynn showed what we have all been waiting to see from him, impressive running, some outstanding defence and scoring his first try for the club.

Tackler of the match Ryan Halsall showed us what he can do if he keeps his temper in check, tackling well and scoring his second try of the season.

Parents choice was a bit of a landslide going to Callum Taylor who's tackling was awesome again this week and hand offs are second to none, and to top it off scored 2 tries.

Joseph Hunter one of our small players with a big heart really looked liked he enjoyed himself, running and tackling with a big smile on his face.

Ben Lynch showed his braveness again today taking the ball forward and even setting up a try with a great pass.

Connor Stubbs unfortunately didn't get into the game today after feeling a bit off sorts yesterday, but he took the ball up well until he chose to leave the field in the last third.

Double try scorer Harry Thompson had the best game he has had so far for the club, showing his strength for his second try forcing his way over the try line and he really got in to his tackling especially in the last third.

Last but not least Dezi Wilkinson a player who has come on leaps and bounds in the past two weeks, really threw his shoulder into his tackling and was a contender again this week for tackler of the match.

In conclusion a good team performance and the most impressive thing for the coaches is that, not only did the tries come from various players but the tackler of the match was closely contested by a variety of players as well.
We won't get carried away from todays performance but we will take confidence from it and will keep working hard to get better.

Well done boys keep it up
