Pilks buck the Broncos

Luckily the rain stayed off long enough for todays game to be played.

Pilks faced a Bury side that is new to the game and it showed.
Although Bury tackled well at times and started the match with a really good individual try, Pilks showed their experience and controlled the game.

The first third Pilks started with the ball and scored in the first set of
six but then Bury hit straight back with a good try, but what was disappointing from Pilks point of view was that no one laid a hand on the Bury player. Pilks then upped their game and not only started to defend well but began to push Bury backwards on nearly every tackle. The first third ended three tries to one in Pilks favour.

The second third Pilks continued to dominate in defence and hats off to Bury they restricted Pilks to only two tries, but what was pleasing from a coaches point of view is that Pilks kept Bury scoreless.

The last third was the most pleasing because in the spirit of the game and also as a bit of a test to our own players ability we asked Bury to start further up the field on kick off and Pilks kept on pushing Bury back at every opportunity. The last third finished four tries to one to Pilks.

Honorary Captain Joseph Hunter who was also awarded player of the match, scored again for the club and with a great run and a great pass to set up another try which was one of my favourite moments in coaching so far.

Tackler of the match Connor Stubbs really upped his game this week in defence hence the reason he got the award.

Ben Lynch a player who is so hard on himself didn't realise how well he played today with some great runs good enough to earn him parents choice award.

Nathan Flynn was awesome today leading from the front with his defence, scoring a couple of tries and running well.

Ryan Halsall was impressive in defence, scored a couple of tries but most impressive was his direct running.

Callum Taylor a player who always plays well did not disappoint, again this week scoring a couple of tries and was unlucky not to have had a couple more with his great handing off and his relentless tackling.

Tyler Robinson took the ball up really well today and had one of his best games to date.

Dezi Wilkinson a player that is improving every week played well again this week with some strong tackling, great running and scoring a long range try.

All in all a good team performance well done keep it up
