Pilks Faced Clock

What a great day for rugby, the sun was shining and everyone was in a good mood.

Pilks faced a good Clockface side who had 15 players to Pilks 9, which meant Pilks had to do it the hard way, each player playing the full 30 minutes.

To be fair to both sides this was a good game of rugby all round.
In the first third both team's showed good defence at times, scored great tries and passed the ball about with great effect and both me and Dave Flynn agreed that this was probably the best third of rugby Pilks have ever played. Both Pilks and Clockface started the game like a house on fire and the first third finished 3 tries each.

In the second third Clockface started to get their bigger better players more involved, but to Pilks credit they stuck to their guns, tackled really well and proved they were no walkovers making Clockface use at least 4 and five tackles in every set and never crossing the line with out a Pilks player on them. The second third finished 3 tries to 1 in Clockfaces favour.
The last third was more of the same and again the Clockface came out on top 3 tries to 1.

Connor Stubbs was Honorary Captain today.

Player of the match Callum Taylor, he really deserved this award this week (like he does most weeks to be fair) his tackle count was so high again this week but lets not forget his bravery for just keep bouncing back after keep getting hurt, a real example to all the other players. Also adding another try to his tally.

Tackler of the Match Ryan Halsall received this award not just for the amount of tackles he did but for his tackling technique and chipping in with a couple of tries.

Nathan Flynn caught the eye of the parents this week for his good defence on the edge and for his elusive running which played a big part in his 2 tries.

Dezi Wilkinson is a player who has come on in leaps and bounds this season and again took the ball up strong and straight but also really gets his shoulder into the tackle.

Ben Lynch kept his legs pumping when being tackled which was nice to see, now its time to see more of that please Ben.

With Harry Thompson, Joseph Hunter and Tyler Robinson playing well the future of Pilks is in good hands.

Just a quick word about the commitment of the players and parents this season we have only had 9 players signed on so far and the least number of players we have turn up with is 8, now that is great commitment and we would like to thank the players and parents for that and now we have so many new players signing on hopefully they will show the same commitment and then we can sub players and give them the spells and rest they deserve.

Well done keep it up

I will just leave you with the words of Clockfaces coaching staff "Pilks have come on loads since the beginning of the season"
