Sunday was the first of Pilks two trips to Folly Lane this season and if your a fan of attacking rugby then this was the game for you, a 22 try thriller.
Pilks started the game trying to pass their way through Folly Lane with very little success and went 2 tries to nil down but to be fair Pilks showed good character and started to run at Folly Lane with better success and brought the game back within Pilks reach. The first third finished 3 tries to 2.
The second third was to set the tone for the rest of the game, with both teams scoring try for try and if one team made a defensive stop then the other team would come back and do the same, saying that the end of the second third finished at the wrong time for Pilks, as I feel Pilks had just started to get to grips with Folly Lane making a great defensive stop. The second third finished 5 tries to 4 in Pilks favour
The last third Folly Lane started with the ball and Pilks were asked to do the same as they had done at the end of the second third and make another defensive stop, which unfortunately Pilks were not able to do and again both teams went try for try.
There was an exciting end to the game with the game at 11 tries a piece, Pilks made a defensive stop which ended with a big hit on a player that had caused Pilks problems all morning. Both teams scored 4 tries a piece in the last third.
All in all a good game of rugby on a nice sunny Sunday morning.
Honorary Captain was Harvey Cathcart.
Player of the Match Ryan Halsall scored a couple of tries with some great go forward making good yards with every run and tackled well really putting his body on the line.
Tackler of the match Callum Taylor scored 4 tries and as well as tackling hard but more pleasing to me is the piece of skill and presence of mind he showed with a great hand off and nice one handed pass to set up a try.
Parents choice was 5 try hero Nathan Flynn who just showed if you back players up you will get off loads and you will score tries and lets be honest he could have easily been awarded player of the match.
And with Harry Thompson, Ben Lynch, Dezi Wilkinson and Joseph Hunter all playing their parts it was a good game for everyone involved.
Well done keep it up
