Pilks do us proud again

Pilkington Recs faced a Thatto Heath side that boast's a team of 25 players, so Pilks were up against it with Thatto Heath having fresh legs all through the match, but it was Pilks infamous slow starts that really hurt them today.

The first third started poorly for Pilks and they was out scored four tries to nil, with a couple of tries really disappointing because Thatto Heath went straight through the Pilks defence with out a Pilks hand on them.

The second third Pilks as per usual started to get to grips with the game and both teams played some really good rugby and also defended well, the second third both team shared the honours with three tries each.

The last third as in the second period both teams continued to play good rugby passing well, forcing both sets of defences to work overtime and the last third finished two tries a piece.

Honorary captain Jack McIntyre ran his blood to water today and was completely shattered when he left the pitch. He was also in the running for tackler of the match just for one tackle in particular, a great cover tackle.

Player of the match Charlie Penketh proved again this week you don't have to be the biggest player on the pitch to have a big impact and again this week ran and tackled way above his weight.

Tackler of the match Rohan Heyes put his body on the line on a couple of occasions, proving that in his second stint he is really ready for the contact that is involved with rugby league.

Parents choice Callum Taylor had a great game today with some really big hits and added another try to his tally.

Joseph Hunter took the ball in really well today and kept getting back up even after getting hurt.

Nathan Flynn was one of the top tacklers today, but what was really impressive was his footwork and it was this great foot work which lead to him scoring again this week.

Ryan Halsall scored a couple of tries this week with some really strong runs and was up there in the tackle count again this week.

Rhys Edwards added another try to his tally this week showing speed with some good runs.

Dezi Wilkinson after asking to have a spell on the bench that he felt he needed, came on when he was ready and made good yards forward and put in some great tacklers, so much so he was mentioned by the coaches as a contender for tackler of the match.

Ethan Cranny and Connor Stubbs showed some really good go forward today and with Harry Thompson and Harvey Cathcart playing well it was yet another enjoyable game of rugby and it was nice to see the two teams chatting and getting on together after the match.

Well done keep it up
