Pilks and proud

Today Pilks welcomed Leigh Miners to Ruskin drive on a sunny Sunday morning and as the score line suggested these were two evenly matched teams.
Pilks are a team that are known for their slow starts, this was not the case today and the game started at a good pace for both sides.
With both teams putting in good defensive sets this was a tight game all the way threw and the first third finished two tries to one in Pilks favour.

In the second third Leigh Miners got on top of Pilks a little bit and the second third went in their favour Leigh out scoring pilks two tries to nil.

So when the last third started Pilks were three tries to two down and this was were they showed their true character, they really stepped it up in both attack and defence and one try in particular standing out with the ball being passed through three or four sets hands. There was an exciting end to the game when the ref called one set each left and Pilks were five tries to four down.
Pilks evened up the score on their set and was asked to put in one last defensive set, which to the pleasure of coaches and Pilks fans alike they obliged by working hard for each other and doing us all and themselves proud.

Honorary Captain Rohan Heyes impressed yet again this week with his strong running and good tackling.

Player of the match Dezi Wilkinson ran strong and tackled well and with any luck this has convinced him this is the game for him and he is a good strong player.

Tackler of the match Nathan Flynn proved today with this award that he is not just an attacking player (which we all know only to well he can do) but he can and will do his defensive duties as well.

Callum Taylor was parents choice today, votes were quiet evenly spread today which is nice to see but Callum pipped a couple of players to the post by adding another two tries to his tally and putting in some big hits.

Joeseph Hunter did really well today I noticed he was first man in the tackle on a few occasions.

Connor Stubbs showed vast improvement this week in both attack and defence.

Ryan Halsall ran strong, tackled well and scored again this week.

Charlie Penketh proved again this week that size does not matter, finishing off the most impressive try of the match and showing his strength in the process.

Jack McIntyre who has taken to this game like a duck to water, scored again this week and put in some good tackles.

Harvey Cathcart, Ethan Cranny, Rhys Edwards, Tyler Robinson and Harry Thompson all playing well, this was definitely one of the best games I have been involved in.

Well done keep it up
