I would like to start this report with a big thank you to Callum Taylor, Nathan Flynn and Ryan Halsall who chose to play for the under 8's today not only helping out the 8's but helping the under 7's get players on the pitch, well done lads I'm sure I can speak for everyone from the U7's player's to parents to coaches we are all very proud of you.
For the first time Pilks U7's had a full 18 man squad and with their top try scorers playing for the under 8's the U7's were asked to stand up and be counted and this is exactly what they.
Bare in mind a lot of our players have only played one or two game's, I believe they did really well today and did not let a more experienced team run all over them.
The first third and the first of our two teams started the game (first by number this does not mean they were first choice ) took to the field and to be fair although the first third finished two tries to nil in Moorfield's favour it was still a good performance by Pilks, they defended well and played some good rugby.
The second third started with a completely new set of players and same story as the first, Moorfield finished two tries to nil up but again Pilks defended well and played some good rugby.
The last third saw both of our teams sharing the time equally and again they all played well with the added bonus of Pilks scoring a couple of tries and the last third finished two tries each.
Honorary Captain Josh Hunt lead from the front with some really strong runs and getting stuck in defensively.
Player of the match Connor Stubbs was impressive today getting of his line quick and making tackles but what was more impressive was his attitude, he was more focused and just shook the little knocks you get in rugby like they don't matter.
Tackler of the match was awarded to debut player Luke Brighouse who did very well in defence tackling round the legs proving no matter how big they are they cant run without their legs.
Rohan Heyes was parents choice today, since coming back this year Rohan as just gone from strength to strength not just in attack but also in defence.
Rhys Edwards was in the running for a special award and only just missed out, he has really stepped up his game and added another try to his tally.
Jack McIntyre seems to be in the wars every week at the minute but keeps getting up and making a positive impact on the game scoring again today.
Mackenzie smith another player on his debut can take a lot of confidence from his performance today.
With a good game from Joseph Hunter, Dezi Wilkinson, Harvey Cathcart, Aaron King, Charlie Penketh, Ethan Cranny, Tyler Robinson, Max Fear, Billy Traynor, Harry Thompson and George Donohue Pilks might need some extra shirts.
Well done keep it up.
