Pilks put out another full squad

Here we go again please stop me if you have heard this one.
Pilks start slow and finish strong, sound familiar ?

To anyone who takes the time to read these reports they will see a pattern emerging, we have all heard the saying this was a game of two halves, for Pilks its a game of three third's.
On Sunday Pilks played a good Woolston side and in a very good tempered match (a joy to be part of) both teams did themself proud both in their attitude towards the game and the skills on show.

The first third Pilks sent out their first nine of an eighteen player squad and although they were out scored three tries to one this was not just a one sided game and they played really well against a some big agile players.
In the second third Pilks had the luxury of completely changing the squad and again Pilks lads did themselves proud and were narrowly out scored three tries to two.
In last third both sets of players got five minutes each and by this time Pilks were in full swing and came out winning the third two tries to three making some very good defensive stops.

If you go off the score alone it will look like the players in the first third didn't do as well as the players in the second third, I don't believe this was the case I think it came down to Pilks starting slow and every player on that pitch both Woolston and Pilks can be proud of themselves because they all played well and they all played within the rules of the game.

Honorary Captain Aaron King lead from the front with some great running, for one of our younger smaller players he really is strong and uses his body well.

Billy Traynor was awarded Player of the match because he put his body on the line with some one on one tackles against some much bigger opponent's and took the ball in really well.

Tackler of the match went to Rhys Edwards, now we all know about this young mans running ability but it's his defence in recent weeks that has really impressed everyone.

Parents choice went to Rohan Heyes well lets face it if you find gaps as well as he does and score two tries you are going to catch peoples attention.

Dezi Wilkinson show us how good of a player he is, adding another try to his tally and doing his bit in defence.

Nathan Flynn scored again this week which is of very little surprise because we all know he is capable of scoring from any were on the pitch.

Apologises to the children that don't get an individual write up but with the shear number of players we have I will still be typing while eating my Christmas dinner, but believe me when I say we are very proud of Joseph Hunter, Harvey Cathcart, Max Fear, Ethan Cranny, Ryan Halsall, Callum Taylor, Tyler Robinson, Luke Brighouse, Jack McIntyre, Mackenzie Smith, George Donghue and Josh Hunt, you all played well.

Well Done Keep It Up
